Former President Trump will headline the National Rifle Association's (NRA) second annual Defend event on Oct. 22 in Savannah, Georgia, the organization announced Friday morning.
“This is a critical election for gun owners in America,” Doug Hamlin, vice president and CEO of the NRA, said in a statement. “They have big plans to erode Article 2 protections.”
“Donald J. Trump has proven himself to be a warrior for the right of Americans to keep and bear arms. I'm excited to support it.”

Earlier this year, the NRA endorsed Trump in the presidential election. President Trump also spoke at the NRA convention in May.
The NRA has stepped up its attacks on certain Democratic candidates who are tolerant of gun owners' rights. Ohio is the second state to establish an NRA Political Victory Fund is targeting this election cycle. Last month, gun groups launched a massive radio campaign against vulnerable Democrats Senator Jon Tester of Montana.

“When it comes to preserving and strengthening constitutional rights in America, the stakes in this presidential election could not be higher,” said an NRA news release. “Regardless of your reason for owning a firearm, whether it's for hunting, self-defense, or as an exercise of your constitutional rights, if you want to uphold your Second Amendment rights, follow the law. Firearm owners will have a clear choice to make this fall.”
