Worst COVID Fund Fraud in U.S. Occurred Under Gov. Tim Walz

The nation is learning that one of the nation's largest coronavirus relief fund scams occurred in the Somali community of Minneapolis, Minnesota, during Democratic Gov. Tim Walz's (D-MN) tenure, and even CNN recently I also had to pay attention to it. .

CNN reported on the matter on Friday. mass theft Some of the government funding going on in Minnesota under Walz. The network noted that nonpartisan state auditors have released at least 16 reports into massive fraud in the Gopher State during Walz's governorship.

But the worst case in Minnesota was the nation's largest coronavirus funding scam, in which 47 Somali immigrants were charged with stealing $250 million in federal coronavirus funds. It's also an incident.

Under Walz's leadership, a fake Somali charity called “Feeding Our Future” was found to have defrauded the government of millions of dollars. The funds were set aside to help children and families during the coronavirus crisis, but the money was stolen to pay for high costs. -Provided real estate, cars, clothing, travel, and luxury goods at inflated prices to members of the Somali community who controlled the funds.

Governor Walz claimed to have credited himself for discovering the fraud “early” and working to quell the chaos and prosecute the fraudsters. But CNN noted that Walz's own Department of Education has left the door wide open to this type of fraud.

CNN cited a state auditor's report that found the Minnesota Department of Education's “actions and inactions created opportunities for fraud,” adding that MDE “failed to act on red flags.”

Minnesota Republican House Minority Leader Lisa Demuth told CNN that the misconduct was a failure of the Walz administration in general and the governor in particular.

“Governor Walz's failure to hold any commissioners accountable means that he is responsible for the continued fraud in Minnesota,” Demuth said.

In fact, to date, Governor Walz has never fired anyone in his administration for their involvement in or accountability for any of Minnesota's 16 fraudulent audits.

As CNN noted, “Waltz was a hands-off leader when it came to holding people accountable for the wrongdoing and mismanagement he oversaw.”

“Furthermore, some state agencies led by his appointees have responded defensively to audits in recent months, and their dynamics have been disrupted. [Judy] Randall, who has worked in the department for 26 years, made a startling realization, the newspaper added.

CNN said this appears to amount to a “culture of no accountability” under Walz, who has refused to accept any responsibility for the massive fraud that occurred on his watch. said.

In fact, even as a federal trial prosecuting members of the “Feeding Our Future” fraudsters continues, a judge had to warn Walz to stop lying about the charity's fraud. Ta.

Ramsey County District Court Judge John Guzman said Walz forced the governor to continue making payments to Feeding Our Future, a scandal-ridden nonprofit organization in which he is the central figure, going back to 2022. It reprimanded Walz for making “inaccurate” and “false” statements. Plan to steal $250 million from coronavirus-era welfare programs.

The Feeding Our Future scam is not the only COVID funding scam to occur in Minnesota under Walz. During his tenure, a total of approximately $550 million was stolen by fraudsters.
