The nation's two most populous states, California and Texas, will begin early voting on Monday, along with Montana, Georgia, Nebraska, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
Here's everything you need to know about each state's voter registration and early voting plans.
Georgia is one of the most competitive states this season, and the Senate race in Montana is hotly contested.
Georgia has voted Republican in all but two elections over the past 40 years. The first time was in 1992, when former President Clinton won an overwhelming victory, and the second time was in 2020, when President Biden returned the state to Democrats by a margin of 11,779 votes.
If either candidate wins here, the path to victory will be easy. The Peach State has 16 electors up for grabs, with recent polls showing a close race and FOX News Power Rankings ranking it a toss-up.
Democrats are doing well in the Atlanta metropolitan area, where more than half of the state's population lives, and especially in the most densely populated counties of Fulton and DeKalb. There is a higher concentration of black and college voters there. Surrounding suburban areas are also helping boost Democratic votes.
Republicans won big with rural voters everywhere else. Republicans won all but 30 counties in the last election, with many of their biggest wins in the sparse Northwest and Southeast regions.
Montana, in the northwestern part of the country, is a stronghold of the Republican Party at the presidential level, but it also hosts one of the most competitive Senate races in the country this term. Incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Tester faces off against Republican Tim Sheehy in a race where President Trump's popularity and Sheehy's discipline favor Republicans. The ranking is Lean R.
Finally, in-person absentee voting begins today in Nebraska, where absentee ballots are already being cast. The state is home to three competitive races.
Key down-ballot races in today's early voting states
Voting also begins today in nine Congressional districts ranked “Lean or Toss Up” in the FOX News Power Rankings. For a complete list of competitive races, see the latest Senate and House rankings.
- California District 13: Incumbent Republican Rep. John Duarte is a freshman in this San Joaquin Valley district. He won the midterm elections by a margin of 564 votes. Two years ago, Biden won the same district by more than 25,000 votes. Victory by 10.9 points (Dave's redistricting). That's what makes this year's race so competitive. Duarte will face Democratic state Rep. Adam Gray in the Lean D race.
- California District 22: It's the same story in District 22, home to East Bakersfield. Rep. David Valadao, one of two Republicans to vote for Trump's impeachment in 2021, held the district by 3 points in the midterm elections but held it by 3 points in the last presidential election. Biden won by 13 points. Valadao's strong centrist brand keeps this race against former Rep. Rudy Salas in a toss-up this cycle.
- California District 27:This is a Republican-held district that Biden won on the 27th as well. Incumbent Republican Congressman Mike Garcia won here by more than 6 points in the midterm elections. Biden won the same field two years ago by more than 12 points. The 27th is located north of Los Angeles and includes parts of the county, including Santa Clarita. Garcia will face Democrat George Whiteside, the former CEO of Virgin Galactic, in the Lean D race.

- California District 41: The Golden State's 41st Congressional District is represented by Republican Ken Calvert, who has served in the House of Representatives since 1993. He won his most recent race by less than five points, and this year he will face a fellow competitor, a former federal prosecutor and Democrat. Will Rollins. This race is a toss-up.
- California District 45:President Biden won this Southern California district by 6 points last cycle. It's very competitive because it has a large Asian American population and leans to the right. In the district, which includes part of Los Angeles, incumbent Rep. Michelle Steele faces Democratic attorney Derek Tran. We moved to Toss Up last month.
- California District 47: Democratic Rep. Katie Porter ran unsuccessfully for the Democratic Senate nomination this term, leaving a large vacancy in the 47th District. The race will feature Democratic state Sen. Dave Minn and Republican former state Rep. Scott Baugh. The district also includes Orange County, which has leant Democratic during the Trump administration. It's a power ranking toss-up.
- Montana District 1: Montana's 1st Congressional District is the least Republican of the two. Incumbent Republican Congressman Ryan Zinke won the midterm election by a narrow 3-point margin. He has an advantage in this western district created just two years ago through redistricting, and will face the same Democrat he ran against two years ago, Olympic rower Monica Tranel. It will be. Lean R race.
- Texas District 28: Henry Cuellar, a longtime Democrat representing the 28th District, is seeking his 10th term this year. He won the final race at midterms by a 13-point margin. In the last presidential election, Biden won the region by seven points. The Justice Department indicted him in May on charges of money laundering, conspiracy and bribery. The embattled incumbent will face Republican former Navy commander Jay Furman. This race is Lean D.
- Texas District 34: In southeast Texas, incumbent Democrat Vicente Gonzalez is seeking a fifth term in Congress. He won the midterm exam by 8.5 points. He is running against former Republican state Rep. Mayra Flores, who briefly represented the district in 2022. This Bay Area is rated Lean D.
