Migrant Caravan Departs Southern Mexico for U.S. Border

Multiple sources reported that a large group of migrants, primarily from Central and South America, left Mexico's southern state of Chiapas with the intention of reaching the U.S. border. The group reportedly demanded that the new Mexican government, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, speed up the processing of transit permits.

Independent journalist Ali Bradley estimated the size of the new migrant caravan at about 6,000 migrants.

Videographer Auden Cabello said migrants expressed frustration with Biden-Harris' CBP One app. Unable to get through the border at a port of entry or book a direct flight to the U.S., the group left Tapachula, Chiapas, on Saturday for the U.S. southern border with Mexico.

“The caravan is currently being escorted by the Mexican National Guard, state police and ambulances,” Cabello reported. “Authorities are offering immigrants the option of remaining in Tapachula and receiving assistance with their CBP One applications.”

Breitbart Texas reported that another migrant caravan left Mexico's southern border region in July. The group of about 3,000 migrants began heading north toward the U.S.-Mexico border.

By mid-September, large groups of migrants had returned to the border area of Eagle Pass, Texas.

“A large group of migrants crossed the Rio Grande in the late afternoon near the small community of Normandy, Texas, about 26 miles north of Eagle Pass, writes Randy Clark of Breitbart, Texas.” As Breitbart Texas reported, the region was once notorious for the frequency of large-scale migrant crossings, but increased election-year enforcement in Mexico has significantly slowed the flow of migrants arriving at the U.S. border. , and has been on the decline since then.”

Large groups of migrants near Eagle Pass will continue through October, according to Lt. Chris Olivares, a Texas DPS spokesman.
