Terry Bradshaw says Browns’ Deshaun Watson should be ‘put down’

Terry Bradshaw looks at Deshaun Watson like Grandpa Yeller.

After Sunday's horror show of offensive performance, the Fox Sports analyst and Hall of Fame quarterback called for Watson to be benched in his own unique way.

“Do you want to take Watson off right now?” Bradshaw said after the Browns' 34-13 loss to the Commanders. “He hasn't played well since he came to Cleveland.”

Fellow studio analyst Howie Long stepped in to replace Bradshaw, along with Michael Strahan.

“I didn't mean to put him down. I want to sit him,” Long told Bradshaw.

“Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It was a little harsh,” Strahan also told Bradshaw, which caused the entire Sunday staff to laugh.

Bradshaw, 76, is known for his shock factor, surprising viewers with what he says.

Ahead of Week 1 of the NFL season, the four-time Super Bowl champion made headlines when he explained his excitement for the start of the NFL season in a way that even viewers wanted to hear.

“It's good to be back, right?” Bradshaw said on “Fox NFL Sunday” before Week 1.

“I haven't been this excited since my aunt taught me how to spin a bottle. Today is a great day.”

It's an unconventional way of saying Watson needs to be benched, but it's a perfectly reasonable request at this point.

Watson has played badly since arriving in Cleveland three years ago, looking like a shell of his former self as the Browns go 1-4 and look for answers at receiver.

The Browns have the worst offense in the NFL in terms of DVOA, and their current DVOA score is 8th worst in NFL history Since 1979.

Despite the offensive woes, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said: He's not going to sit Watson out.

“We're not changing quarterbacks,” Stefanski told reporters after the game. “We need to play better. We need to coach better.”
