Grimace spotted on NYC’s purple line as Mets fans hope for luck against Phillies

Subway commuters experienced something surprising.

Mets fans aboard the seven-row train ahead of Game 3 of the NLDS against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday were greeted by Grimas, the team's lucky mascot, adopted from McDonald's.

The purple character's face also happened to be on 10 cars of the purple train, including a decal of Grimas wearing the iconic blue Mets hat.

According to the MTA, the mascot boarded the train from 34 St. Hudson Yards to Citi Field just before 1:30 p.m.

one funny video The purple giant was captured bouncing at home in anticipation as the door opened to reveal a surprised crowd of die-hard Mets fans.

The costumed monster flew straight into their arms, and they all jumped so violently that Mr. Grimas' head repeatedly hit the roof of the vehicle.

“Frown! Grimace! Grimace!” cried the crowd.

Mets fans in costume enjoyed the rest of the 40-minute ride with the Mets before streaming into the stadium to watch Game 3 of the playoffs between the Mets and Phillies.

The voyage is the latest in Grimas' strange and storied relationship with the Mets, which began in June when the fast food monster threw out the first pitch of a game.

“This celebratory moment was inspired by fans who social photoshopped Grimas' face on the purple tracks after he threw out the first pitch,” a McDonald's representative told the Post.

“In addition to them, everyone's favorite purple best friend made a surprise appearance on horseback at Citi Field with fans to cheer on the Mets.”

Unfortunately, the decal was a one-night-only special, even though the Mets still have at least one more game against the Phillies on their way to the World Series.

Tuesday's game will be the first of a five-game NLDS series to be played on the Mets' turf, with each team coming into the series with one win.

National League DS will play Queens in their next two games. It's the first time since 2015, when the Mets split two games at home against the Dodgers en route to the National League pennant.
