Former President Donald Trump's youngest son, Barron Trump, was refused permission to open a new bank account due to the political “cancel mob,” his mother Melania said, citing “serious concerns about civil rights violations.” .
The former first lady said her son, now 18, was told in the weeks after the Trumps left the White House in early 2021 that he could not open an account at his preferred financial institution.
“I was shocked to learn that my long-time bank had decided to close my account and deny my son the opportunity to open a new account,” Melania wrote in her new memoir, Melania. I was disappointed,” he wrote.
“This decision appears to be rooted in political discrimination and raises serious concerns about civil rights violations.”
Melania Trump did not name the bank she was referring to.
But this “troubling” snub was part of the “cancel culture poison” her family experienced after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot following her husband's 2020 election loss, she wrote.
The former first lady also says in a new book published Tuesday that the apparent cancel culture her family experienced began to escalate “unchecked,” with filtering even preventing them from doing charity work or securing business deals. He claimed that he had begun to suffer.
“The 'cancel mob' now includes businesses, traditional media and social media influencers, and cultural institutions,” Melania wrote. “This unfortunate trend reflects the current sociopolitical climate in the United States.”
“The cancellations keep happening, and I'm always amazed at the attitude of companies, big and small,” she continued.
“It is ironic that my business acumen is being criticized at a time when other former government officials have been praised for similar efforts, including multi-million dollar media deals for national security. This disparity can only be explained by the bias associated with my last name and political affiliation.”
The revelations about her son's bank account come after the former first lady told Fox News on Tuesday that her 6-foot-7 son has been “doing great” since enrolling at New York University this fall. It became.
“He loves his classes and his professors,” Melania said. “He is doing well, thriving and enjoying being in New York City again.”
Donald and Melania's only son will commute from Trump Tower in Midtown to attend classes in Greenwich Village.
