Turkish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing At JFK Airport After Pilot Dies

A Turkish Airlines pilot collapsed and died during a flight, and Turkey's national carrier made an emergency landing at New York's JFK International Airport, Turkish Airlines said.

The disturbance occurred after the plane took off from Seattle on Tuesday evening, airline spokesperson Yahya Ustun wrote on social media.

Ustun said pilot Ilchehin Pehlivan, 59, lost consciousness at some point after Flight TK204 took off from Seattle on Tuesday night.

“The pilot of our Airbus 350… Flight TK204 from Seattle to Istanbul collapsed mid-flight,” he wrote. “After first aid attempts failed, the other pilot and co-pilot decided to make an emergency landing, but died before landing.”

According to a spokesperson, Pehriban underwent a routine medical checkup on August 3.rd I was then given a medical certificate by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Meanwhile, passengers on diverted flight TK204 will continue from JFK International to Istanbul, the airline announced.
