Trump Florida resort hosts linemen before Hurricane Milton response

The Trump Organization on Wednesday invited more than 200 power line workers to stay at its Miami golf resort as Florida's Gulf Coast prepares for Hurricane Milton to make landfall this week.

Eric Trump, vice president of the organization, shared the news. in post on social platform X.

“We are honored to welcome 275 amazing linemen from FPL. @Trump Preparing to respond to hurricane aftermath #milton! ” the son of former President Donald Trump posted online, sharing a video of men in yellow vests being called by name to be assigned rooms.

She added, “You are amazing and the Trump family and the entire state of Florida think highly of you. Enjoy your room. The best in Florida. Stay safe.”

Milton is currently a Category 4 storm and is expected to make landfall late Wednesday or Thursday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that 5.9 million people in Florida are under mandatory evacuation orders as a result of the storm. Some 3.3 million residents of Tampa, Florida, were told to evacuate as the rain was expected to swell the city's waterways and cause major flooding.

Less than two weeks after Hurricane Helen wreaked havoc across the southeastern United States, the storm is likely the worst to hit the Sunshine State's West Coast in more than 100 years.

The younger Trump's post came after the former president earlier this month set up a GoFundMe page for victims of Helen, which made landfall in Florida's Big Bend area late last month. The page is currently raised over $7 million.

The Republican presidential candidate has also been highly critical of the federal government's efforts to respond to the devastation that has hit states up and down the East Coast.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other officials are pushing back against claims that the agency is shorting ground crews, stealing donations from disaster victims and refusing volunteers.
