Florida Sheriff Says Sexual Predators Not Allowed at Shelters

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staley announced Wednesday as Florida prepares for Hurricane Milton.

“Everyone who enters the country is screened to ensure they are not fugitives, wanted or sex offenders,” Staley said at a press conference.

“If you are designated as a sex offender under Florida law and need protection, you must go to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Center, which is the county jail on Justice Lane, and we will We will house it in the lobby of that building,” he continued. “I think you've probably seen it before.”

Flagler County is among the counties on Florida's east coast that have issued mandatory evacuation orders for people living in certain areas and in mobile homes and recreational vehicles.

Hurricane Milton is approaching Florida's west coast and is expected to make landfall Wednesday night, according to the latest information from the National Hurricane Center (NHC). NHC continued north along the track a little.


NHC is caveat Strong tornadoes are expected to strike across the southern and central regions of the state, and heavy rain is expected to fall across the state into Thursday.
