For Wisconsin Dems, a 2024 win in the battleground state is years in the making

MADISON, Wis. — The state's Democratic Party believes it has spent nearly seven years laying the groundwork to win the 2024 presidential election.

Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Ben Wikler said in an interview with Fox News Digital that Wisconsin's “everything, everywhere, at once” and neighborly organizing is a key battleground state for Democratic candidate Vice President Harris. He said he is building the infrastructure to win.

He said the Democratic Party of Wisconsin has “over the past seven years” continually “formed neighborhood teams to engage in responsible dialogue with people in our neighborhoods.”

He said the Harris campaign is building on the foundation it has spent years building for Democrats.

Wikler credited this organizing strategy with the Democratic Party's recent statewide election victories over the past six years.

“What we know is that a reliable messenger is just as important as the message,” Wikler said. “And you have Democrats in rural areas talking to other rural voters, in suburban areas talking to other suburban voters, and in cities talking to other city dwellers about their votes.”

“We think the message that Harris and Walz are conveying resonates with everyone,” he said. “And it makes a huge difference when you have a messenger who can actually start the conversation and start the conversation on a ‘what’s actually going on in our lives and in our communities’ level rather than a topical level.”

“Wisconsin has always been a tipping point state,” Wikler said, referring to past elections from the election of former President Donald Trump in 2016 to the election of President Biden in 2020.

“On the Democratic side, we're actually organizing volunteer work on the ground, and we've had 16,000 people do their first volunteer work with the Democratic Party since Harris became a candidate in the final stages of the campaign.” .

He accused the Republican Party and its allies of using “paid recruiters, people who are hired to knock on doors but don't necessarily have ties to the communities they're talking to.” denounced.

“Ultimately, I think we'll see which of these strategies has the greater impact,” Wikler added.
