Lions star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson was dragged off the field at AT&T Stadium in Dallas on Sunday with a fractured tibia.
Warning: Injury video is very graphic.
Hutchinson screamed in obvious pain as trainers rushed to the scene and players from both teams gathered to comfort the third-year Michigan product.
Hutchinson entered the game with a league-leading 6.5 sacks, but his sack count increased even more due to the injury play. However, the Lions defender's season is in high doubt.
After the game, Lions head coach Dan Campbell spoke to reporters about Hutchinson's condition.
“He's in good shape right now,” Campbell said. “He's being taken care of. He's going to be back here. Obviously, he's going to be depressed for a while. It's tough. It's tough to lose someone like him, but after this… , we'll know more. Of course, we wish him the best.”
Hutchinson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has compiled an impressive resume in his relatively short time in the league. His rookie season ended with 9.5 sacks and three interceptions, and he was on the verge of winning Defensive Rookie of the Year.
In 2023, Hutchinson continued to build on that success with 11.5 sacks on the season, leading to a Pro Bowl selection and the Lions' first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.
The former Michigan Wolverine was on pace to exceed even that lofty number before getting injured Sunday.
