Enraged Jerry Jones Threatens Radio Host’s Job During Interview Following Historic Loss

Dallas' 105.3 listeners and at least one host fan Cowboys owner Jerry Jones probably got a lot more than he bargained for during his regular weekly radio appearance on Tuesday.

Fresh off Sunday's humiliating 47-9 loss to the Lions, Jones became combative with organizers when asked if he had the right players on the team.

“First of all, where are you going to get your players?” Jones shot back. “Seriously? Where are you going to gather your players for next week's game against San Francisco?”

Co-host Shan Sharif then tried to explain why Jones responded the way he did regarding player acquisitions.

“I think you know all the offseason stuff, the counter-argument when you say, 'Where are we going to bring players, we can't get them this week,'” Sharif began.

Jones didn't seem to want to talk about missing the offseason transfer and interrupted Sharif.

“But what's your counter?” Jerry retorted. “What's your counter?”

From there, things went into a vicious cycle.

Listen, tell me what I'll do. Please tell me what I do about it. Let's take a hard look at the decisions we've made over the past few years. May I? Let's take a look. Now, if you think it's interesting that I'm calling you on the radio and sitting here throwing out all the dish water, you must be smoking something over there this morning. it's not. And I really don't, and I don't want listeners to hear me, but this is not your job. Your job is not to make me explain why I did something, and be sorry that I did it. That's not your job. . . . That's not your job. Otherwise, I'll have someone else ask these questions, folks. . . . .No, no. It's not a joke. It's not a joke.

“You never know…What your team is doing is right or wrong.'' If you are, or there are five or 10 people like you, here's what you're doing. must come [ownership] I have a meeting to go to today. There are 32 teams here. you guys are geniuses. . . . Do you guys really think I'm going to sit here with a microphone and tell you everything I've done wrong without infringing on your rights?

“Now, listen, I think we both speak to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners, and we're very sorry for what happened on Sunday. I'm tired of what's going on. And I'm not talking to these guys on the other end of the phone. I'm talking to you, the fans listening this morning. You can spend a lot of time zig-zig the stupidest thing anyone ever did, buying the Cowboys. So stupid is a good decision. A smart decision can turn out to be a bad one. In fact, you never know whether it's going to be a good one or not.”

It's unclear what Jones thinks a radio host's job is, if not to ask questions about the team. Certainly, it's not the reporter's job to solve the problems facing the Cowboys. However, it's the host's job to ask Jones at least some pointed questions, which could reveal whether Jones knows how to solve problems.

The Cowboys have a bye, so they don't have to worry about losing this week. However, the following week they will face their biggest rival, the defending NFC champions, the San Francisco 49ers. So Jones should figure it out by then. That's his job.
