NFL Schedule Release Buzz

The NFL’s announcements about their schedule have turned into quite the competition, especially among teams’ social media teams, all vying for the most attention. Personally, I’m not particularly interested in that.

What really grabs my attention is that the Indianapolis Colts might have just pulled off the biggest schedule release ever. And trust me, I’m not just saying that because I’m a fan of “The Simpsons.”

For the release of their 2026 season schedule, the Colts created a two-part video inspired by the beloved sitcom. The first segment was a creative take on the show’s iconic opening sequence, filled with clever NFL references. It kicked off with a classic Bart Simpson chalkboard gag: “This video does not contain Tyreek Hill.” Just fantastic.

Then, in Part 2, the actual schedule was unveiled, and it went from intriguing to downright awesome. Each game was introduced by clips from the show that cleverly matched the matchups, starting with the Colts’ opening game against the Baltimore Ravens, which featured a snippet from “The Simpsons” that resonated beautifully with the theme. It came from a segment in “Treehouse of Horror” where they adapted Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.” Seriously, if you haven’t done so already, grab a Duff beer and a pink donut; this is a work of art you’re likely to replay.

Speaking from experience here.

This release was flawless—no complaints at all.

Honestly, with the sheer number of episodes, any team could take a page from “The Simpsons” in releasing their schedules. They don’t really overlap too much either.

What impresses me most about this particular release is just how it keeps improving.

I have a funny feeling we might only be a year or two away from seeing James Cameron directing one of these and inevitably, several sequels that nobody really asked for.
