Comic Andrew Schulz accuses BAM of canceling stand-up hours after he posted Trump interview

Comedian Andrew Schultz criticized the Brooklyn Academy of Music for canceling a scheduled stand-up special hours after he hosted former President Donald Trump on his podcast.

The Big Apple-based cartoonist said he had booked a show at BAM over a month in advance, but learned just a week before tickets went on sale that he was no longer welcome at BAM. Ta.

“Three and a half hours after the incident, [Trump] I gave an interview and they canceled the show,” said Schultz, 40. He spoke on the popular podcast “Flagrant” on Wednesday.

“Blow them up, blow them away forever,” he said.

Schulz shared an email from BAM informing him that the November show had been canceled, but with only a vague explanation: ”

Schultz said he wasn't sure if it was based on Trump's interview, “but it was ready the day before it was released and was scheduled to be released this week.”

“We've locked up this venue…for another month. We're not going to do it here – it's booked, it's ready and it's going on sale this week,” he added. Ta.

A producer of the podcast “Flagrant” speculated that the venue's leadership had reviewed what Schulz had planned and was “impressed” by it, so they couldn't top Schulz's comedy.

“This felt personal,” the producer said.

Schulz is currently struggling to find a new venue to film the special as soon as possible, which is difficult on such short notice.
