The Cleveland Guardians were down 3-0 with one game left in the American League Championship Series, but instead they had momentum.

The Guardians hit two home runs in the 9th and 10th innings, defeating the New York Yankees 7-5 and closing the gap in the ALCS to 2-1.

Throughout the season, the Cleveland Guardians have played six-inning games. Entering Thursday, they led 76-2 through six innings, including the postseason. But Thursday night didn't go as planned.

After Hunter Gaddis gave Juan Soto a two-out walk in the eighth inning, Emmanuel Clase came on to face the struggling Aaron Judge.

Judge caught Clase deep to tie the game, but the Yanks weren't done yet. The next batter, October legend Giancarlo Stanton, hit a solo home run to give the Bronx Bombers a 4-3 lead. Clase had allowed two home runs in the entire regular season, but he allowed two in a span of three pitches.

In the 9th inning, Gleyber Torres added a sacrifice fly to give them a 2-run lead, but the Guardians tied the game until the final out. On the first pitch he saw, Johnkensie Noel hit a long two-run home run to tie the game.

The Yankees were unable to score in the 10th inning, and the Guardians scored the go-ahead run with two outs and 3rd base, but David Frey hit a walk-off, two-run homer to score more than one run.

This is the third walk-off home run in Guardians history, joining Oscar Gonzalez in 2022 and Tony Peña in 1995.
