Comedian Jim Gaffigan hosted the charity Al Smith Dinner, and many on the left were outraged that he denigrated Democrats while “normalizing” former President Donald Trump.

During his speech, Gaffigan mocked Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, who was absent from the dinner, calling her a “mediocre vice president.” He also took aim at Trump and those in attendance, but many viewers were outraged that he even attended the dinner with the former president.
“Oh my god, Jim Gaffigan was embarrassingly bad tonight. Yeah, he helped legitimize fascists. So, fuck all that.” answered Actor Jeff Locker.
“You stood and applauded a convicted felon and rapist who oversaw the storming of the Capitol to stay in power? Shameful, Jim. Shameful.” answered Another critic.
“Jim Gaffigan is now in the same league as Jimmy Fallon who messes up his hair to me. Fuck those who normalize that crazy fascist rapist. What a despicable event.” said An account that calls itself a feminist.
“Fuck Jim Gaffigan for hosting this shitty show!” read Another tweet.
“I was a huge fan of Jim Gaffigan. All he did yesterday was prove that being Catholic is more important to him than standing up for what's right. That shit. You were sitting in a room with something like that and holding it with him? Fuck you.'' **That sound.'' read Another reply.
“Well, I never thought I'd say F. Jim Gaffigan, but here I am.” said Another critic.
Gaffigan specifically derided the event as catering to New York City's powerful and wealthy elite. The dinner was named after Al Smith, who served as governor of New York from 1923 to 1929 and was the first Catholic to run for a major party ticket in 1928.
