Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham blasts team’s kicking game, calls for open tryouts

The Sun Devils lost to Cincinnati on Saturday by a final score of 24-14, with loss kicker Ian Hershey missing two field goal attempts. Hershey missed a 48-yard field goal attempt with less than six minutes left, which would have cut Cincinnati's lead to 24-17.

A missed 41-yard field goal attempt with less than a minute left would have cut the Bearcats' advantage back to 24-17.

After the game, Arizona State head coach Kenny Dillingham slammed his team's kicking game.

“Our kicking game is terrible,” Dillingham said in the postgame press conference. “If you can kick and you're at Arizona State, please email me. Kicking tryouts are scheduled for Monday. So bring it. Monday tryouts, let's go.”

When asked about the comment, Dillingham said he was not joking.

“Yeah, I'm serious. I'll be getting the word out on social. I'm going to have kicking tryouts on Monday,” Dillingham added. “We've got to find guys who can make field goals.”
