Juan Soto was instrumental in sending the Yankees to the World Series.
And Yankees fans played a role in convincing him to stay in New York after this season.
After the Bronx Bombers slugger hit a series-winning three-run homer in Game 5 of the ALCS on Saturday night, Yankees enthusiasts at Cleveland's Progressive Field made their feelings about Soto clear. He spoke loudly.
While the field was abuzz with new Yankees hats, shirts, and smiling faces, fans in the crowd could be heard loudly chanting, “Re-sign Soto!”
The Yankees acquired Soto in a blockbuster trade in the offseason, but the Padres were well aware that Soto would become a free agent after the 2024 season.
In August, the Post's Jon Heyman surveyed 13 experts and averaged their responses to predict Soto would receive a contract worth about $520.09 million.
Heyman reported on October 10 that the Mets, Giants, and Blue Jays are likely to be the Yankees' biggest rivals.

But now that Soto has sent the Yankees to the World Series for the first time in 15 years, it may be hard to imagine him anywhere other than the Bronx.
Soto will be playing in his second World Series, having already won with the Nationals in 2019.
