Pennsylvania high school football team dominates opponent despite having just 11 players

Football is also said to be the ultimate team sport. This game requires 11 players on both sides of the ball for a team to win, as well as special teams members contributing.

But Pittsburgh High School entered last Friday's game in a particularly deficient position. In fact, Westinghouse High School only had a total of 11 players available for the game.

After the first two quarters, Westinghouse held a 60-0 lead against Perry Traditional Academy. The final two quarters of the game were shortened to six minutes each as each team emerged from their respective locker rooms for the second half. A running clock was also implemented for the entire second half, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Westinghouse has a history of dominating games against Perry Traditional Academy, winning 68-0 in their first meeting this season.

The paper said a group of Westinghouse players were suspended after leaving the bench “during an altercation last week.” post gazette.

Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh played the game with just 11 players.

The Post-Gazette reported on the incident in more detail, stating that a large portion of Westinghouse's roster “participated in fights or were on the bench during altercations” during a recent game against University Prep, another high school in Pittsburgh. He said he was punished after “leaving the police.”

“Westinghouse, a powerhouse in the City League, will only have 11 players in uniform for the game at Couples Stadium on the South Side. The remaining 49 Westinghouse players have been involved in scuffles or altercations. He was suspended for one game for leaving the bench during last Friday's game between Westinghouse and University Prep. post gazette Reported.

“Any player who leaves the bench area during a game will be automatically ejected from the game,” the National Federation of State High School Associations' policy states, according to the Post-Gazette. The federation's rules also require players who violate the rules to be “suspended from the next match.”
