Left-wing climate groups silent after Harris campaign drops millions on private jet flights since July

Fox's first appearance: Environmental groups that have been vocal against climate change were silent when asked about Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign spending nearly $7 million on a private jet since July.

Harris spent nearly $4 million on commercial flights in just six weeks starting in July after calling on Americans to change their habits to curb climate change, according to a previous FOX News Digital review. It turned out that.

The latest review of new filings with the Federal Election Commission reveals that Harris spent an additional $3.1 million on a private plane in September alone.

Fox News Digital contacted environmental groups and others protesting Harris' use of the private jet, but none of them responded. The group includes Sunrise Movement, Center for Biological Diversity, Greenpeace, Earth Island Institute, Earth Justice, Nature Friends International, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

In 2023, members of the Sunrise Movement protested against commercial air travel at East Hampton Airport, blocking planes from taking off and landing.

Greenpeace also blames luxury travelers.

“The ultra-rich are proudly accelerating the #ClimateCrisis by flaunting their planet-destroying lifestyles. Let's stop this reckless behavior,” Greenpeace wrote on its website. “Private jets are the epitome of social and climate injustice, with the most privileged minority flying around like there’s no tomorrow, without any restrictions.”

Harris used two different companies for private flights in September: Private Jet Services Group (PJS) and Advanced Aviation Team.

PJS offers a wide range of services, from light jets for groups of up to seven passengers traveling at 535 mph to airliners that can accommodate 150 to 350 passengers.

PJS's website claims the group is America's first carbon-neutral commercial airline.

“PJS has implemented a reforestation program to sequester 100% of carbon emissions from our clients' flights. PJS's Carbon Neutrality Declaration marks our private jet service as America's first carbon-neutral commercial airline. Established,” the website says.

Harris also used Advanced Aviation, which offers a variety of aircraft from an eight-seater turboprop jet that can accommodate trips of up to three hours to an 18-seater ultra-long range jet.

Harris' campaign did not respond to FOX News Digital by press time when asked whether she considers the carbon footprint of private jets before boarding a flight.

The National Library of Medicine reports that commercial aviation is “the most energy-intensive form of air travel,” and that different passengers use different amounts of fuel. [is] This is estimated to be on the order of 10 to 20 times the average fuel usage per passenger hour for commercial aircraft. ”

Harris has previously called climate change an “existential threat” and said human habits are contributing to the problem.

“There is no question that we need to be practical. But being practical also means recognizing that climate change is an existential threat to us as humans.” Harris told CNN in 2019. And the reality is that it is within our human ability to change our behavior in ways that can reduce its impact. ”

The 2024 presidential election won't be the first time Harris has used a private jet to campaign. Harris' 2019 campaign spent hundreds of thousands of dollars The company bills itself as a “world-class” commercial aircraft charter company with a fleet of “over 7,000 private jets.”

“We offer access to all types of private jets, from very light jets to world-class cabin jets,” the website says. “Whether you are traveling for business or leisure, you have the freedom to choose the aircraft that best suits your travels.”
