A frenzied sucker punched a 75-year-old woman in the back and knocked her to the ground inside an East Harlem train station early Tuesday morning, police and sources said.
Officials said the 75-year-old woman was standing on the 4th, 5th and 6th train platforms at 125th Street around 12:30 a.m. when she noticed strange behavior shortly before the sudden attack. They say they found a man doing this.
The stranger then punched her in the back, causing her to fall onto the platform and hit her in the face.
Police said the assailant fled and the victim went to Mount Sinai Morningside for treatment for a cut and bruise on her lip.
There were no arrests by Tuesday evening.
The random attack occurred a day after a 28-year-old woman was randomly punched by an unknown man as she got off the No. 3 train on West 96th Street on the Upper West Side, police said.
And on Sunday evening, a 25-year-old man was slashed in the arm by a deranged commuter muttering to himself on the Uptown F Station platform at Second Avenue and East Houston Street, police and sources said. Announced.

Despite a recent spike in violent incidents, the overall number of serious crimes in the metro is down about 5% so far this year and reported so far in 2023, according to the latest data updated Sunday. The number of cases decreased from 471 to 449.
A total of 1,210 misdemeanor assaults were reported, down about 1% from the 1,226 reported at this time last year.
