Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey missed Wednesday's practice because of jury duty and was subsequently selected to serve on the jury.
Aubrey was selected to serve on a 12-person jury in a felony case in the 297th District Court. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The case revolves around a charge of third-degree strangulation.
The Cowboys kicker appeared on the team's injury report on Wednesday after reporters covering the Cowboys noticed he had missed some of the practices open to the media.
Aubrey was found in a courthouse in downtown Fort Worth, but it's unclear how long the case will take, according to the Star-Telegram.
The outlet also reported that Aubrey insisted on Wednesday to participate in civic duty, despite the organization's efforts to prevent him from being required to appear as a juror.
He is expected to return to practice Thursday and Friday, and the judge in the case will be willing to work with the kicker's football schedule.
The Cowboys will travel to San Francisco on Sunday to take on the 49ers at Levi's Stadium.
Aubrey is one of the best kickers in the NFL, making at least two field goals in every game this season and going 17-of-19 from the field.

His longest record of the season was a 65-yard field goal.
Additionally, the 29-year-old made 53 of 57 field goal attempts during his time in the NFL and was named first-team AP All-Pro last season.
A former MLS prospect, Aubrey signed with the Cowboys from the USFL last summer and played two seasons with the Birmingham Stallions after only starting kicking in 2019.
