Denver Police received a tip about the situation and conducted a welfare check on October 16th at the location where the victim was being held.
A police statement said officers “conducted the search to the best of their ability, despite the lack of full consent or sufficient criminal evidence to support the request for a search warrant.” The victim told investigators that the suspects left the scene after the welfare check and fled several hours later.
On October 18, authorities arrested two of the victim's roommates, Jose Pineda Moreno, 19, and Darwin Berris Gonzalez, 34.
