More than four months after a 20-year-old gunman attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, Butler County authorities have released 911 calls from that day.
One redacted phone call was from the wife of a 74-year-old shooting victim in Moon Township, who told police her husband was shot at a rally but did not know which hospital he was taken to. I told him. James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon Township, was shot and seriously injured during the rally.
“Paramedics responded. I called Butler Hospital. He wasn't there. They told me to call 911,” a woman can be heard telling the dispatcher.
The dispatcher told her to stay on the phone.

“I don't,” she says.
Other 911 calls released by Butler County show gunman Thomas Crooks fired about eight times, damaging Trump's ear, killing Corey Comperatore, and killing Copenhaver and another man named David Dutch. More information is available about the moment the man was injured.

“Shots fired. Gunshots fired at the Trump rally,” one caller can be heard saying. “You'd better get here soon.”

“We're at the Butler Farm Show and we need help now,” says another.
Another caller can be heard telling the dispatcher, “Come to the Trump rally and there's a guy shooting a gun.”

One woman called 911 to check on the safety of her mother, who was attending the rally. She alerted the dispatcher that shots had been fired, and the dispatcher responded that police were on their way.

“What should I do?” she asks.
Another caller told dispatch that a paramedic was needed in the “green section” of the gathering because “someone passed out.”

The call revealed a chaotic scene where gunshots rang out at the rally and attendees did not know whether the gunman posed an active threat to those attending the event.

Further investigation revealed that the scammers had gained access to the roof of a nearby building by climbing through HVAC equipment and piping on the side of the building. The building was outside the rally's official boundaries but less than 200 yards from where Trump was speaking from the stage.

About an hour before the shooting, a Beaver County sniper took a photo of a suspicious man with a rangefinder pointed at the stage near the AGR building. The suspicious man was later revealed to be a fraudster.
The sniper reported the information to Pennsylvania State Police. The FBI previously said the sighting occurred around 5:10 p.m. on July 13, 1 hour and 1 minute before Crooks fired the first bullet at 6:11 p.m.

A local Butler County police officer located the shooting, located the shooter, and fired one shot from his rifle at Crooks, but “the shooter backed away and briefly disappeared from view.” Adams Township Police Department Sergeant Edward Lentz testified in September.
A Secret Service counter-sniper then fired a fatal shot, incapacitating Mr. Crooks, who was standing in front of President Trump on the roof of the AGR building.

On the day of the rally, Crooks parked his car and flew his drone about 200 meters from where the former president was scheduled to speak between 3:50 and 4 p.m.
FBI Director Christopher Wray At a July 17 Congressional hearing, Crooks testified that he was at the rally for about 70 minutes on the morning of the assassination attempt.
Investigators found eight shell casings on the roof where the crooks fired their shots.
