Incumbent Democratic Rep. Jahana Hayes is expected to defeat Republican challenger George Logan and secure another term as representative. According to the Associated Press, Connecticut's 5th Congressional District.
This is the second time Hayes has defeated Logan. The Republican Party unsuccessfully challenged Hayes in the 2022 midterm elections.

This is the first time in 18 years that a Republican has represented Connecticut's 5th Congressional District.

Ms. Hayes made history as the first black woman and black Democrat to represent Connecticut in Congress. She won the 2018 election and re-election in 2020 and 2022 by double-digit margins.

The district stretches along the western side of Connecticut and the New York border.
Logan served in the Connecticut State Senate and was an engineer for Aquarian Water Company for nearly 30 years. Logan's wife is a nurse and he is the father of a son and a daughter.
During his campaign, Logan said he would fight inflation and lower gas prices by working on clean energy solutions. He also campaigned on veterans' issues, provided resources for first responders and secured the border by cracking down on drug cartels.
Hayes began her career as a teacher in Connecticut.

In the 118th Congress, Hayes served on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Education and Workforce Committee, and is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the House Advocate Caucus.
