Oakland Voters Poised to Recall Left-wing Mayor Sheng Thao

Voters in Oakland, California, are poised to recall left-leaning mayor Shen Tao, who has come under fire for his radical policies and is involved in a federal corruption investigation.

It appears that Oakland voters have already recalled District Attorney Pamela Price, who was supported by left-wing billionaire Democratic donor George Soros.

of san francisco chronicle reported:

Preliminary earnings shown 65% of voters support Tao's recall Meanwhile, 35% disagreed. The percentages are: Almost unanimous support for the recall Price. If Tao and Price are recalled, they would be the first mayor and district attorney in city and county history to be fired before their terms expire. Both will be elected in 2022.

In Tao's case, there could be multiple mayors within a year. According to the city charter, Tao must step down immediately after the election results are certified and the city council declares the seat vacant. The Registrar must certify the results within 30 days of the election (i.e. December 5th). The City Council will then declare the position vacant at its next meeting on Dec. 17.

The City Council president then becomes interim mayor until a special election is held 120 days later.

As Breitbart News reported earlier this year, Tao's home was searched by the FBI. She also fired Oakland Police Chief Rulon Armstrong, who is Black, for criticizing the City Council's “defunding the police” policy.

Tao and her lawyer prompted The FBI tried to tell the public she was not a target of the investigation, but to no avail.
