An 82-year-old Washington woman was arrested around 1 p.m. He was charged with a hate crime Monday after assaulting two Trump supporters, police said.

The alleged victims, 55-year-old Gina Powell and 66-year-old Mary Jennings, were waving signs and flags supporting former President Donald Trump. The two were reportedly cheering for Trump on the streets of Edmonds, Washington, the day before the 2024 presidential election, when they encountered an elderly woman.

At the time of the alleged confrontation, Powell was wearing a T-shirt that read “Pro God, Pro Gun, Pro Life, Pro Trump.”

The Trump supporters did not require medical treatment for the alleged attack. However, Ms Powell said she was unable to return to work yet as she was “still in a state of shock”.

The Edmonds Police Department said the suspect was “very active and at one point attempted to shove the officer while demonstrating his actions.”

During the investigation, police stated that the suspect “continues to show no remorse for the incident and may continue to act against others in the future.”

Officers established probable cause for the hate crime arrest.

KOMO reported that the suspect has not been charged, but a judge announced Tuesday that he found probable cause for a hate crime crime and two counts of fourth-degree assault.

The 82-year-old woman was booked into the Snohomish County Jail.
