Fresh off a red light Tuesday, House Republicans began renewing their idea of ending China's preferential trade status.
They have begun to promote the idea of ending China's Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR). The idea, once considered hopeless, is now a reality, as Republicans control the White House and the Senate, and are on track to win the House of Representatives. .
“For too long, the Chinese Communist Party has exploited America with predatory economic practices that target the American economy, workers, businesses, and national security. Critics of PNTR argue that it allows companies to outsource manufacturing to China and that new tensions with the Chinese government could lead to supply chain problems.

The party's platform released in July called for the abolition of the PNTR. Fox News Digital first reported in September that a group of Republican senators introduced a bill that would repeal China's PNTR and increase tariffs on many products up to 100%.
