Time is now for Jets’ dynamic Garrett Wilson-Davante Adams duo

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Sunshine and temperatures in the low 70s will greet Aaron Rodgers on Sunday at State Farm Stadium as the Jets attempt a desperate attack to settle the team. That would be ideal conditions for throwing the football around to Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams. A horrifying 13-year playoff drought.

The signs of that were visible for everyone to see at MetLife Stadium last Thursday. That's when Wilson played Odell Beckham Jr. and Adams reprized his magical old Green Bay connection with Rodgers in the second half of the Texans game.

It took Adams' third game back with Rodgers to remind the football world of the kind of telepathy they have and the impact he can still create, and how a win could make him and Wilson a dynamic duo. For the first time, we have provided evidence that it can be done. It's on the line every week this season.

Breece Hall considers Adams and Wilson to be the best WR duo in the league.

“Because they’re both No. 1 receivers,” Hall told the Post. “This helps the offense a lot because the defense has to be very considerate of the offense because it opens up the run game and gives us the ability to sit there and run the ball or not. , it's like choosing between 'I want you to pass us the ball. That's what makes them the best because they require a lot of attention. ”

Source Gardner was asked if he thought Adams and Wilson were the best WR duo.

“I think so,” he said. “They just have to tape it more,” he said. “We have to play against each other more.”

Wilson doesn't always make one-handed touchdown catches, but he can trust Rodgers to throw open, especially now that Adams' presence frees him from the stifling double coverage.

“The show we just had last week on a short week was pretty impressive,” safety Jalen Mills told the Post. “Their bond, their connection with A-Rod and knowing where he’s going to throw the ball and who it’s going to in certain coverages is going to continue to grow.”

Choose your poison.

“We have some guys who have been in the league for over 10 years, and some young guys who have been active since they got into the league,” Mills said. “They're both similar and different in their own ways. I think what's similar is their slashing ability, but I think what's different is that they both can get YAC, but with the ball in their hands. The method of gaining YAC later on is very unique between these two.

“Garrett is more like basketball. … Garrett takes a guy into space, maybe spins a couple times, and he's going to give you that 'wow.' “Tae is going to hit it straight, but they’re both good with the ball in their hands.”

I asked DJ Reed. If you were building the perfect wide receiver, what would you learn from Davante Adams?

“His release package was off the line of scrimmage. … I think that's very elite,” Reid said. “He's really fast. I think that surprises a lot of quarterbacks because he's a bigger receiver. And also his jump ball ability. If you watch his dunk videos, he bounces like crazy. So overall he's a dynamic receiver.”

What will Reid receive from Garrett Wilson?

“Garrett just moves differently, his body movements are unconventional. Same thing, really…quick and agile, but he just does things that most people can't do,” Reed said.

I asked Wilson: If you could build the perfect wide receiver, what would you learn from Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson?

“I learn separation skills from 'Tay,'” Wilson said. “Really, just carbon copying 'Tae' and putting his ass out there, really. He's got the size, he's got the measurables. Maybe my speed, that's what I'm going to do. That's the only thing that takes away. I'm trying to learn every day to get to the point where I say, “Tae is here.''

Adams' career at Rodgers: 629 catches, 7,704 yards, 69 TDs.

Adams' 2024 season with Rodgers: 14 wins, 175 losses, 1 draw.

Wilson's career at Rodgers: 60 wins, 673 losses, and 5 draws.

3 games with Wilson and Adams: 19 wins, 264 losses, 2 draws.

Is there a better WR duo?

“I’m obviously biased, but no, I’m not,” Solomon Thomas told the Post. “You couldn't find a better duo.”

The Rams could certainly argue with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. The Dolphins (Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle), Eagles (AJ Brown and Davonta Smith), Bengals (Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins) and Texans (Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs) are also not far behind. Masu.

Asked if he and Adams are the best duo in the league, Wilson said, “I don't know. We've got to prove it every week.” I don't really buy into that, we want to be the best team we can be. So whatever they ask us to do to be the best team, that's what we're going to do. ”
