Hollywood star Michael Douglas has reluctantly admitted that under President-elect Donald Trump, the Republican Party is now “the party of the people” while the Democratic Party is seen as “elitist.”

Michael Douglas, a longtime supporter of the Democratic candidate, was visibly upset by Trump's victory.
“Wednesday morning, I was so angry about this very thin race, right? Given the polls like this, it's going to be a close race and it's going to be wiped out,” Douglas said. saidadding that they then spent the day playing golf.
He said Democrats lost the election on economic issues.
“In 40 years, the stock market has risen 5,000 percent and real wages have increased 14 percent,” Douglas said, adding that ordinary Americans are “killing themselves every week because of inflation.”
“And I think we really underestimated that. The fact that now that we can say the Republican Party is the people and the party for the people, we have the Democratic Party on the left, which is an elitist party. That in itself is outrageous.”
