CNN host Fareed Zakaria said Vice President Kamala Harris fell badly against Donald Trump in last week's election, and even Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg defeated the Democrat on Sunday. He listed three main reasons.
Zakaria said the Biden administration's poor handling of the southern border, the “excessive abuse of the law to punish Trump” and the left's enthusiasm for “identity politics” all led to a loss of 312 electors last Tuesday. He claimed that it spurred Trump's victory.
Zakaria said the first mistake Democrats made was being “blind to the broken immigration system and the chaos at the border.” his cable television show.
“An asylum system intended for a small number of persecuted people was being used to allow millions of people to enter the country legally,” he said. “Instead of shutting it down, liberals branded protesters as heartless and racist. They missed the huge shift in American public opinion in just a few years. ”
When Harris, 60, appeared on “The View” and infamously said she wouldn't do anything different than President Biden, Zakaria said she should have said, “I wish we had closed the border sooner.” he insisted.
Zakaria also said that after public opinion of Trump deteriorated in the wake of the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, voters saw “excessive abuse of the law to punish Trump.” He claimed that it had strengthened Mr. Trump's position in his eyes.
The CNN host said the “most egregious” example was the case pursued by Manhattan's left-handed District Attorney Bragg. He noted that Mr. Bragg, who was once skeptical of prosecutions for falsifying business records, came under pressure from the left to initiate them.

“While some of the cases were legitimate, such as the Georgia case, one case after another gave the impression that the justice system was being weaponized to get President Trump.” he said.
“This reinforces what his base has long believed: that overeducated urban liberals are hypocrites who will bend rules and norms when it suits their purposes. It confirmed that he was willing to bend.”
Trump, 78, was convicted of 34 felonies in June in the Manhattan incident, but is also facing two federal lawsuits and a lawsuit in Georgia for illegally interfering with the 2020 election results in the Peach State. is still facing a state lawsuit. The remaining cases are not scheduled to proceed.
Zakaria ultimately accused Democrats of the “dominance of left-wing identity politics” that has alienated many Americans outside of their urban academic bubbles.
He said Latinos felt weird when liberals started using the gender-neutral term Latino.
“This kind of obsession has led Democrats to see too many people through their ethnic, racial, or sexual identity, and that working-class Latinos, for example, may “Because they're socially conservative, they like his macho rhetoric, or they're aligned with him, they've missed the fact that they're moving towards Trump with his hard-line stance on immigration.” Ta.
The CNN host added that the left is focused on identity politics and the alleged fight against free speech through “cancel culture” has become “illiberal.”
“Liberals cannot achieve their liberal goals through non-liberal means, no matter how noble,” Zakaria said.
