But elevating House members to the administration could complicate Republicans' ability to control Congress.

Mr. Walz sits in a safe red seat on Florida's eastern coast, making it highly unlikely that he will fall into Democratic hands. But changing House members could take weeks.

With Republicans on track to gain a narrow House majority, reducing the number of Republicans in Congress could further accelerate the delays in President Trump's own first 100-day agenda.

House Minority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) predicted on Fox & Friends last week that Republicans would win by about four to six seats.

Walz is the second House member selected for the administration role after House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., accepted President Trump's nomination to be ambassador to the United Nations earlier Monday. becomes.

Democrats are quietly worried about losing the chamber after Republicans win the White House and the Senate.

In my conversations with President Trump, I have expressed how incredibly humbled I am to receive his nomination and to receive his support. “My colleagues in the United States Senate,'' Stefanik said in a statement accepting the nomination.

“The surge in anti-Semitism, coupled with four years of catastrophically weak U.S. leadership that has severely weakened our national security and diminished our country's standing in the eyes of both our allies and adversaries, will lead to The effort is immense. I am ready to advance the restoration of President Donald J. Trump.'' On Day 1 of the United Nations, we will put America first in peace through strong leadership on the world stage. ”

Like Walz, Stefanik's upstate New York district is a safe Republican stronghold.
