Bill O'Reilly predicts 'free-fire zone' for Trump agenda

Former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly predicted that President-elect Trump would not face Republican opposition in Congress because Republicans control the House and Senate.

O'Reilly said this is a “unique time in history” that gives former presidents a “free fire zone” to carry out their policies.

He told NewsNation's “On Balance” that “I don't think there's a single member of Congress who is going to object to the Republican side right now,” but Democrats are unlikely to support any of Trump's efforts. he pointed out.

O'Reilly compared Trump's chances for a second term to the only other non-consecutive president, former President Grover Cleveland, who faces strong opposition from Congress while Trump is a Republican. He pointed out that there is a high possibility that there will be a cooperative majority.

He advised the president-elect to focus on five or six “really solid pieces of legislation that have very little opposition,” including border security, immigration reform, extending tax cuts and legislation targeting sanctuary cities.

The political commentator suggested that Trump could “stop cultural insanity” through carefully worded legislation that could withstand challenges in federal courts.

O'Reilly, a NewsNation contributor, also emphasized the importance of cabinet selection, calling for experienced advisers to “voice their opinions” while remaining loyal to Trump. He contrasted this with former President Carter's administration, which he said failed because of an inexperienced “crony.”

President Trump has begun announcing cabinet picks, including Elise Stefanik as ambassador to the United Nations and Marco Rubio as secretary of state.
