Ocasio-Cortez further explained her concerns about Gabbard's new role on Thursday. MSNBC Appears with host Joy Reid. Reade recently came under fire for blaming Trump for winning the presidential election because of “white women.”
“I actually think the appointment of Tulsi Gabbard is devastating, even more so than Matt Gaetz,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “Tulsi Gabbard's nomination says she's anti-war, but she's actually not. She supports very pro-war people overseas.”
“And let me be clear,” she continued, “Tulsi Gabbard's nomination is globally a pro-war nomination. Miss you, period.”
Joy Reid quickly joined in the slander, claiming that “Russia loves Russia, loves Russia” about Gabbard's appointment.
Meanwhile, despite Ocasio-Cortez's recent claims, Gabbard has been a vocal critic of America's foreign military interventionist approach.
Gabbard was previously asked about hawkish American foreign policy in a post-9/11 world, arguing that it “serves the interests of the military-industrial complex” rather than the safety and security of the American people.
“That has to change, and it changes with leadership, the kind of leaders who respect and trust the American people, who are honest with the American people, and who, most importantly, put the interests of the American people and our country first.” It depends,” Gabbard said.
“Unfortunately, over time, we didn't see this happen for a variety of reasons. But ultimately it comes down to that basic reality: partisan Whether it's politics or the desire for power, it's all about our safety. We continue to fight counterproductive wars that don't add up. Or, 'We were wrong, we failed, and we're going to get back on track as a country.' “There are leaders who don't want to admit that,” she continued.
Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman and military veteran who previously served in Iraq, has also been vilified as a Russian asset, criticizing the United States' role in the Russia-Ukraine war and squandering American funds.
“This war and suffering could have easily been avoided if the Biden administration/NATO had simply acknowledged Russia’s legitimate security concerns regarding Ukraine’s NATO membership. “That means we're getting close to 2020,” Gabbard wrote in X magazine in 2022.
Meanwhile, President-elect Trump has been a huge supporter of Gabbard, welcoming her into his ranks.
“I am pleased to announce that former Congresswoman Lt. Col. Tulsi Gabbard will serve as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). For more than 20 years, Tulsi has fought for our country and the freedoms of all Americans. As a former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, she enjoys wide support from both parties and is now a proud candidate. I'm a high-minded Republican. I know Tulsi will make us all proud, bringing the fearlessness that has defined her distinguished career to the intelligence community, defending constitutional rights and ensuring peace through force. Thank you!” Trump wrote.
