Davina McCall is currently recovering in hospital after undergoing brain surgery for an “extremely rare” tumor.
The TV presenter, 57, said in a video posted to Instagram on Friday that a medical exam as part of her menopause advocacy work revealed she had a benign brain tumor known as a colloid cyst.
She said the chances were “three in a million” and she would undergo surgery to remove it.
In a statement posted to her Instagram on Friday night, her partner Michael Douglas shared an update on her condition.
“Davina has had surgery and according to the surgeon it was textbook,” he wrote.
“She is currently recovering in the ICU as a precaution, but as you can imagine she is completely exhausted.
“I'm so grateful for all the love from everyone here… it's so powerful. I'm so grateful.”
McCall revealed her diagnosis in a video early Friday.
She said: “I'm going to post this. It's Friday morning. The reason I'm doing this is that a few months ago I gave a talk at a company about menopause, and in return I wanted them to give me a medical checkup. I was thinking of doing that, but it turned out not to be the case.I had a benign brain tumor called a colloid cyst, which is one of the million people. It is a very rare disease, with only 3 people suffering from it.
“So I stuck my head in the sand a little bit for a while, and then I went to see quite a few neurosurgeons. I got a lot of feedback and I thought I had to get it out of the way. ”
Dr McCall described it as a large tumor, 14mm wide, adding: “If it gets big, it's going to be a big problem so we need to take it out.”
She said she was undergoing a craniotomy, a surgical procedure that temporarily removes part of the skull, and said she was “fine.”
“I'll be in the hospital for about nine days and then I'll go home, but I won't be using my cell phone for a while,” McCall said.
“But don't worry about me. I'm doing well enough as is. I'm in a good place and have full confidence in the surgeon and his team, and I'm handing over the reins to him. He knows what he’s doing.”

According to the NHS, non-cancerous brain tumors are more common in people over the age of 50, and symptoms include headaches, fainting, behavioral changes and loss of consciousness.
Ms Douglas said the presenter would be “off the grid for a while” until he recovered.
He added: “She's doing great and in great shape. For those who are interested, here's the odd update from her account.
“I'm sure she'll read all the comments if she can feel free to send her love. People's support is amazingly strong. Have a nice day everyone. Michael xxx.”
The former Big Brother presenter, who hosts ITV's dating show My Mum, Your Dad, has long been an advocate for women's health issues and has aired documentaries on contraception and menopause.
Last year she was awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honors for her contribution to broadcasting.
Her sister, Caroline Badey, died of lung cancer in 2012 at the age of 50.
