The Russian government announced that the Ukrainian military took advantage of President Biden's green light to launch six US-made ATACMs into Russian territory on Tuesday.
Russia announced that it had shot down five missiles and damaged a sixth. It added that debris fell in the area of a Russian military facility, but there were no casualties or damage, just a small fire.
Ukraine did not immediately acknowledge the use of ATACM on Tuesday, but officials announced an attack on military facilities in Russia's Bryansk region. This is the same area where the Russian government said the missile fell.
The attack came just two days after President Biden authorized Ukraine to use U.S. long-range missiles on Russian territory, although Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously suggested the move amounted to an act of war. Ta.

Biden's decision was prompted by Russia's decision to invite 10,000 North Korean soldiers to fight against Ukraine in Kursk, a senior U.S. official said. Another official told Fox it was unclear whether Biden intended to authorize the use of missiles outside the Kursk region.
The announcement came after Britain and France authorized SCALP/Storm Shadow missile attacks on Ukraine, according to French newspaper Le Figaro.
President Putin has previously said that giving Ukraine the green light to use missiles would effectively mean that the United States and NATO are “in a state of war.”

“The flight assignment of these missile systems can actually only be carried out by military personnel of NATO countries. This cannot be done by Ukrainian military personnel. Therefore, it is difficult for the Ukrainian regime to attack Russia with these weapons. “It's not a question of recognition or not. It's a matter of decision for NATO countries to directly participate in a military conflict,” Putin said in September.
