Al Sharpton demands Trump ‘deliver for black America’ with admin positions

Left-wing activist Al Sharpton has slammed President-elect Donald Trump over his cabinet and administration nominations, demanding that he “do something” for black Americans.

Sharpton is statement Tuesday after President Trump made several nominations to Cabinet and other administration positions.

“If the next president truly wants to serve Black America, he needs to keep his mouth shut.”

“In the two weeks since Donald Trump was elected to a second term, he has fielded more than a dozen troubling candidates, but the most alarming element of his proposed Cabinet is the black candidate. “There is not a single person,” Sharpton wrote.

He went on to point out that the Trump campaign is focused on attracting black votes, especially men, in the presidential election. He also criticized the controversial nomination of Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) to be U.S. attorney general.

“Trump spent this campaign selling himself to black voters, especially men, by hawking sneakers and implying that his conviction would resonate with our community. Donald Trump Instead of responding to the demands of more Black voters who have supported him, the attorney general candidate who will pursue an ethics investigation into human trafficking allegations and whose views on vaccines and other safety measures could destroy our communities I recommended a certain health secretary.

Sharpton then mocked Trump for comparing him to Abraham Lincoln.

“At this point, the self-proclaimed 'best president for black Americans since Abraham Lincoln' seems to have lost interest in us,” he concluded. “If we truly want to do good for Black America, the next president needs to put his money where his mouth is.”

While some Republicans have publicly opined that Gaetz has no chance of being confirmed as attorney general, others believe the nomination will be critical to the success of the incoming Trump administration.

Mr. Sharpton has come under fire after financial records show he donated $500,000 to Mr. Harris' nonprofit organization before the softball meeting between Mr. Harris and Mr. Walz. Sharpton was paid $650,000 by the nonprofit in 2021.
