The Jets finally made the smart move Tuesday. General manager Joe Douglas fired. Douglas, the man responsible for the team's current collapse, was willing to scapegoat coaches, players, and everyone around him to cover up his grave mistakes in the draft and free agency. .
New York is almost ready for a new rebuilding era, but first they have to face their final boss and send Aaron Rodgers packing too.
This experiment was an utter disaster for the Jets. The organization was so desperate for an impromptu appearance in the Super Bowl that they were willing to literally destroy anything for Rodgers and his whims. From shaping the offense to Rodgers' preferences, hiring a friend as offensive coordinator, to firing head coach Robert Saleh, it was all to cater to the 40-year-old quarterback.
That would have been nice, but instead we had the nightmare of the Jets regressing to the lowest level ever thought possible.

Aaron Rodgers .273— Steve Palazzolo (@StevePalazzolo_) November 17, 2024
Lack of explosive plays, boring quarterback play, lack of run-pass balance, all directly or indirectly caused by Rodgers. On paper, he may not look like he's doing terribly statistically, but if you look at the Jets, the team is very concerned about keeping Rodgers happy. You can see he's at a different stage of his game that needs to be managed.
If this organization wants to move forward, the Band-Aid has to be ripped off. No competent, talented general manager or coach would risk their future by replacing Rodgers. It's like inheriting a house, but it's haunted and you have to spend three nights there first. However, the ghost listens to the sounds of whale sex to heal his ligaments, and a Jordan Peterson podcast keeps blaring from the bathroom.
The biggest benefit would be if Rodgers decides to retire, but even if he doesn't, whoever replaces him will have the freedom to designate No. 8 as a cut after June 1st, which would reduce the salary cap. Time for a toilet that can reclaim some room and flush out all this stench.
If the Jets aren't willing to do that and are adamant about moving forward with Rodgers at quarterback, then this failure risks ruining the franchise for years or even a decade. . That's not an exaggeration. That's because keeping Rodgers around means following his every whim in terms of general manager and head coach, and only Rodgers knows who he chooses behind closed doors to lead the organization.
The Jets will have to make a choice as soon as this season ends. They can be smart in this regard, or they can be tremendously stupid. this team is not need He is taken hostage by Rogers. It may not feel like it, but they still have control, and fans of this series deserve more than what they've been given.
If that means criticizing Pat McAfee for a while, so be it. Because being a competent soccer organization is far more important.
