American Airlines travelers duct-tape unruly passenger who tried to open plane door

An out-of-control passenger on an American Airlines flight from Milwaukee to Dallas on Tuesday allegedly assaulted a flight attendant and tried to open the plane's door mid-air, forcing fellow passengers to restrain him with duct tape.

Police said the man stood up from his seat on Flight 1915 and told the flight attendant that he needed to get off the plane. Obtained from local ABC affiliate station WFAA.

When the flight attendant told him that was not possible, the man became angry and tried to rush the flight attendant to the cabin door, the report said.

According to the document, a flight attendant was able to stop the man, and three passengers jumped to their feet and subdued the violent passenger.

The group pinned up the fliers and used duct tape from their in-flight kit to bind their wrists and ankles.

Once the plane landed at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Department of Public Safety officers boarded the plane and took the man into custody, according to a DFW spokesperson.

He was removed from the plane in a wheelchair and sent for a mental health evaluation, the report said.

The flight attendant who was allegedly sued by the harassing traveler was taken to hospital with neck and wrist injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges had been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.

“American Airlines Flight 1915 from Milwaukee (MKE) to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) was intercepted by law enforcement upon arrival in DFW due to a customer being disruptive,” an airline spokesperson said in a statement.

“The safety and security of our customers and team members is our top priority, and we thank our team members and customers for managing a difficult situation.”

The Post requested a copy of the police report.
