Republicans will ultimately give former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) a cabinet pick for President-elect Donald Trump, CNN political commentator Van Jones said Wednesday on “The Lead.” He called him “the Looney Tune guy from Fruit Loops.”
“I think this is a big test. I mean, why do we have a Senate? Apparently the president thinks the Senate should be a rubber stamp for him. America has been strong and great for two and a half centuries. These 3 reasons why it continues to be Because there are three equal branches. And no one's always right, so we need a senator who has that yearly cushion that we're talking about and that will rise above the fray and put the country first. So far, there has been little evidence that Republicans intend to say they don't care if Donald Trump's feelings are hurt. We don't want Looney Tune from Roots Loop running the Department of Justice, dude. For example, at one point some Republicans actually say there are standards they want this president to meet. Until that happens, we have to assume they'll roll with him just like they roll with a lot of other things.”
