Officials say the Kansas City Chiefs tight end's home base was targeted while playing for the team. Patrick Mahomes' home was burglarized the day before, according to police documents. Other athletes have also fallen victim to what police now believe to be sophisticated criminal organizations.

The NFL issued a stern warning to its players, advising them to stay off social media and avoid announcing their playing or travel schedules on public social media platforms. According to ABC News, they believe the robbery suspects were targeting the home during the game.

According to ABC News, the NFL memo says the suspects conduct extensive surveillance and sometimes disguise themselves as delivery workers to keep a low profile. The memo added that burglary suspects may also be targeting maintenance workers or joggers as a way to learn more about targeted homes and neighborhoods.

A security official close to the situation told the outlet that the suspects appeared to know exactly what they were looking for and where the items were in the house. Police have not confirmed the identity of anyone involved in the incident and are not releasing suspect information at this time.
