Trump taps NFL player Scott Turner as head of HUD

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Scott Turner, a former NFL player and Texas congressman from 2013 to 2017, to head the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“I am pleased to nominate Scott Turner, a native of Texas, to be Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD),” President Trump said in a press release Friday.

Turner is director of the Center for Educational Opportunity at the America First Policy Institute, a think tank affiliated with President Trump.

Turner was executive director of the White House Council on Opportunity and Revitalization, whose purpose was to help “communities in need across America.” Website –During President Trump's first term. He is also the CEO and Founder. Community Involvement and Opportunity Council (CEOC) is focused on supporting America's communities through sports, mentorship, and economic opportunity.

“Scott will work with me to make America great again for all Americans. Congratulations to Scott, his wonderful wife, Robin, and his son, Solomon!” President Trump said this in a statement.
