A Bronx man threatened to cause “physical harm” in a bizarre email, forcing the city's sheriff to take safety measures, police and law enforcement officials say. .
According to the New York City Police Department, Dimitri Rapoport is suspected of sending a threatening letter to Lehman University on October 29th.
The nature of the threat and the content of the email have not been disclosed, but the NYPD is currently searching for Rapoport, 41.
“I have no idea why I would be the target of that ire,” Sheriff Anthony Miranda told the Post on Saturday.
Miranda, who is known for cracking down on marijuana stores in the city, said he is taking steps to protect himself and his family.
“If the threat wasn't serious, they wouldn't have brought it to my attention,” Miranda said. “The police department and sheriff's office are working to address these threats.”

Law enforcement officials said Rapoport attended classes and seminars at Lehman over the summer and threatened physical harm to the sheriff in messages.
