Woman charged with slugging spectator at Santa Claus parade: police

She just made a naughty list.

Police say a 62-year-old woman didn't seem to be in the Christmas spirit and punched another spectator at Canada's annual Santa Claus family parade.

The woman reportedly became enraged because the victim blocked her view of the procession.

“The woman got into an argument with a parade participant who allegedly obstructed her family's view of the parade.” This was announced by the St. Thomas Police Department. In a press release. “The suspect punched the victim in the face and knocked him to the ground.”

Police say the holiday slugger was handcuffed during the incident Saturday night in St. Thomas, 115 miles northeast of Detroit and 190 miles southwest of Toronto.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was charged but released pending a future court date.

The 38th annual parade, this year themed “Christmas in the Circus,” kicked off Saturday at 6 p.m. and was sponsored by the Optimist Club of St. Thomas. The group's website states:.

The family-friendly event continued after the unfortunate scuffle.

The St. Thomas Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for further information.
