Alan Dershowitz Says International Criminal Court ‘Destroyed Itself’ With Netanyahu Warrant

Prominent lawyer Alan Dershowitz said Tuesday that the International Criminal Court (ICC) has “defeated itself” by issuing an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The ICC has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Job of Israel of crimes against humanity stemming from Israel's response to the October 7 terrorist attack by the Islamic extremist terrorist group Hamas, which killed more than 1,200 people. A warrant for Mr. Gallant's arrest has been issued. Dershowitz said ICC prosecutors are setting a precedent for using the warrant against Netanyahu to ultimately target Americans. “Let's really understand what the International Criminal Court's indictment against Israel means. This puts the United States in front of the ICC,” Dershowitz said. “Everything the International Criminal Court said about Israel and Netanyahu is also true about the United States and numerous presidents, from President Bush to President Obama.”

“Everything that Israel is accused of, the United States is also accused of, but it's not official yet, but if a precedent is established for Netanyahu to be arrested, if he goes to Canada, he will be next president. 'If Trump went to Canada, he would be arrested,' Dershowitz said. “The ICC is causing more problems and setting a terrible precedent.”

Dershowitz made the remarks on Tuesday's Piers Morgan show. One of the supporters of the ICC warrant against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Mr. Gallant said it was a precedent for the ICC targeting U.S. military personnel and officials.

“There was a bill that was introduced in Congress, but it didn't pass. I think it was called the Hague Invasion Act, which would force the United States to use military force to free captured American soldiers. ,” Dershowitz said. . “Well, we won't do that. But if Prime Minister Trudeau dares to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu, he should impose sanctions on Canada and Prime Minister Trudeau. He should be subject to sanctions. The same applies to other European leaders.

in Editorial In a post on the Wall Street Journal's website Sunday evening, Mr. Dershowitz named several lawyers to his “legal dream team” to defend Israel. The list includes former Attorneys General Michael Mukasey and William Barr, former FBI Director Louis Freeh, former Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Fox News hosts Mark Levin, David Boies and Susan Est. Rich and Floyd Abrams.

“The International Criminal Court has no jurisdiction over Israel and the United States,” Dershowitz said. The United States refused to sign the Treaty of Rome establishing the International Criminal Court. Israel refused to sign the treaty. Where does an international tribunal get its authority or authority over people who have not signed a treaty? That's unthinkable. ” (Related: 'Hate demonstration': Ted Cruz slams anti-Israel demonstrators who shouted 'fuckin' Jews' during hearing)

Before handing down his verdict against the entity, Dershowitz compared the conditions at the ICC's prisons to a hotel room.

“The International Criminal Court has self-destructed,” Dershowitz said. “I committed suicide.”
