Past ‘Deputy of the Year’ in Georgia gets DUI after bizarrely directing traffic with no cars around: docs

A Georgia police officer who once won the honor of Vice President of the Year was charged with drunken driving this month after allegedly attempting to direct traffic on an empty road, authorities announced.

According to obtained police documents, Houston County Sheriff's Deputy Garrison Page found an open can of Mike's Hard Lemonade in his patrol car outside an elementary school where he had been acting strangely on Nov. 19. He said he found himself on the wrong side of the law. By local outlet.

Page was seen in a police car at the scene as having slurred speech and smelling of alcohol, police said.

“Once Paige became aware of my presence, she immediately began to leave the scene and entered into oncoming traffic on the roadway,” a responding Bibb County sheriff's deputy wrote.

According to the incident report, a county school board official who first came into contact with Page said the officer was directing traffic in a quiet area and appeared to be intoxicated.

When another school board employee asked Page if she needed medical assistance, she replied, “It's none of your business,” according to the incident report.

In Page's patrol car, an unopened can of Natural Light in a black bag was allegedly placed on top of a Mike's Hard Lemonade that had already been cracked open.

According to a report from WMGT, after his arrest, he allegedly caused trouble for deputies who were attempting to draw blood.
