Freed Israeli Hostage Mia Shem Announces Her Engagement

Freed Israeli hostage Mia Shem (or Shem) announced her engagement on Thursday, a milestone celebrated around the world as an example of resilience after a brutal experience of terror and torture.

Shem posted on Instagram a photo of a poster inside an ancient ruin in Israel that reads “Marry me” and shows a woman and a man holding hands in the foreground. She also attached a photo of herself kissing a man who is apparently her new fiancé.

Breitbart News detailed Mr. Shem's experience last year:

Sem, 21, said Hamas forced her to endure surgery without anesthesia by a veterinarian after she was taken to Gaza and held in an ordinary Palestinian civilian housing complex during the Oct. 7 terrorist attack.

As Breitbart News reported in November, Shem (or Shem), a dual French-Israeli citizen, was released during a seven-day ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. She first faced resistance from enthusiastic Hamas supporters while being filmed, and was forced to say that she was being treated well.

Sem also appeared in the first hostage video released by Hamas, which showed her receiving medical treatment. veterinarianIt was later revealed that her arm had been shot during a Hamas attack on Israel's Supernova music festival.

There are still 101 hostages remaining in Gaza, two-thirds of whom may still be alive.
