Ryan Day defends Ohio State players after brawl; Sherrone Moore admits, ‘We got to handle it better’

A violent brawl ensued after the Michigan-Ohio State game in Columbus on Saturday.

After the University of Michigan's unexpected victory, members of the team attempted to place the university's flag at midfield, which is strictly prohibited in college football.

The Buckeyes got aggressive and did everything they could to stop it. That led to violence, with police using pepper spray to defuse the situation.

“I don't know the details, but I know they were trying to put a flag on our field, and we're not going to allow that,” Day said after the game.

Ohio State lost to Michigan State for the fourth year in a row in a huge upset. Playoff status is currently being announced

“It was emotional on both sides. That can't happen. … We should have handled it better,” Moore said.

University of Michigan running back Karel Mullins, who ran for more than 100 yards in the game, said the moment was “bad for the sport” and that it was “out of class” for the Buckeyes to reach that level.

“It was a great game. You don't want to see something like that happen after a game. It's bad for the sport, it's bad for college football. But when it's over, they have to learn how to lose. “Yo,” Mullins said. “You can't fight just because you lost a game. We had 60 minutes and four quarters to fight all that, and now people want to talk and fight. That's wrong. That's not good for the game — unclassified in my opinion — and people want to get better. ”
