Houston man accused of killing mother and 2-year-old girl found sleeping in apartment with dead victims

A Houston man has been arrested and charged with stabbing a 28-year-old mother and her 2-year-old child to death.

Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, has been charged with murder in the death, Houston police said.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Friday, HPD officers received a call reporting that an adult woman and child were being held hostage in an apartment, according to a news release.

When officers entered the third-floor apartment, they found Fisher asleep on a couch. A security sweep was conducted and the victim was found inside the apartment.

HPD said both victims had multiple stab wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers observed blood stains on Fisher's clothing and injuries consistent with an altercation. Homicide detectives working with the Harris County District Attorney's Office ultimately determined the evidence was sufficient to charge him and book him into the Harris County Jail.

Fisher was released last December, according to prison records. He received a seven-year sentence for armed robbery and an additional sentence for contraband.

His identity is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
